Research Room is Closed to the Public,
September thru December 2026!
The Genealogy Research room for the Linn Genealogical Society will be closed to the public from September 1, 2026 through December 2026 while the Albany Regional Museum is being remodeled. You can get research help via any of the following methods:
- Send a research query to linngensoc@gmail.com.
- Visit a volunteer in Studio Room 5 at the Albany Public Library (14th Ave.) Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, 11am to 1pm each week while the research room is closed to the public.
- Request an appointment to visit the research room by sending an email to linngensoc@gmail.com or calling 541-791-1618. Appointments can be scheduled 11a-1pm Tuesdays & Fridays each week while the research room is closed to the public.
The Genealogy Research Room is in the Tripp Reference room at the Albany Regional Museum. The Museum is located at 136 S Lyons Street in Albany. The Research Room is open whenever the Museum is open, which is usually Tuesday-Saturday 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Our library has two computers to use in genealogical research with free access to the following premier web sites:
- Ancestry All-Access
- Fold3
- Newspapers.com
- FamilySearch restricted access documents
We also on-line files which hold the source materials for the 40-volume series Linn County, Oregon Pioneer Settlers Donation Land Claims to 1855. This unique series of books, compiled and written over a period of 25 years by Richard Milligan and John Miles, contains information on each of the 1,130 Donation Land Claims granted in Linn County, along with detailed genealogies of the claimants and their descendants. plus additional materials on later families.
