How to Get Started. Where to Look. What is available on the Internet.
Did your ancestor serve? How do you find out? Finding Revolutionary War ancestors can greatly enhance your family tree. Locating them can lead to a wealth of information which often opens up new avenues to pursue – sometimes in places you might not have thought to look.
Although we often hear about the perils of “Internet Genealogy”, there are reliable resources online that allow you to research from home. This presentation focuses on how to get started, what kinds of records are available, some places to look, and of course, how to use those online resources.
Years ago Judi Scott visited an old family cemetery atop a muddy hill in Eastern Kentucky and she was hooked! Ever since then she has continued to search for her ancestors, and tries to solve the puzzles of other families as well as her own. She is a member of the Genealogical Forum of Oregon, the Assoc. of Professional Genealogists, the National Genealogical Society and other genealogical societies. She is an editor of The Bulletin, the quarterly publication of the Genealogical Forum and a facilitator of the Virginia Interest Group at the GFO. Judi maintains a genealogy blog site called “Puzzles of the Past.”
