The following programs are planned for 2009 by the Linn Genealogical Society.
The programs are featured at our regular program meeting on the first
Saturday of each month (except July). The Society program meetings are open to the
public at 1:00 p.m. in the Albany Public Library located on 1390 Waverly Drive in Albany, Oregon.

"Researching the History of your Historic Property" with Rosalind Keeney and
Dave Pinyerd - How you can find out when the building was built, who lived
there, and how it may have changed over time? Learn about architectural style and
the development of the neighborhood. .

"Fort Hoskins Historic Park" by Dr. David Brauner from Oregon State. Dr. Brauner
will give an overview of Fort Hoskins as a military fort (1856-1865); he will talk about the Kings Valley and the Hoskins Community as well as the Aboriginal people of the Luckiamute River area.
Note: The program meeting is being held in Ray's Grocery Community Room in the North Albany Village shopping center at 621 Hickory NW (just off North Albany Road.

"Adoption and It's History" by Professor Ellen Herman, Univ. of Oregon, Eugene.
Professor Herman will speak on the unique genealogical challenges that many adoptees face in tracing their natal backgrounds that are central to the direction that modern adoption took as a social institution. She may have an answer for you!

Party time!!
Participants are asked to bring a favorite finger food for our annual
pot luck party. We will share genealogy research stories from 2008.
Did your research hit a brick wall? Did you scale that wall and
come up with a link to your family? We want to hear about it--and any
other genealogy experience you wish to share.
