The following programs are planned for 2008 by the Linn Genealogical Society.
The programs are featured at our regular program meeting on the first
Saturday of each month (except July). The Society program meetings are open to the
public at 1:00 p.m. in the Albany Public Library located on 1390 Waverly Drive in Albany, Oregon.

"What's Happening in Genealogical Societies Around the US"" Dick Milligan of the Linn Genealogical Society shares his genealogy trip to the East coast and what he discovered other societies are doing.

"History of the Children's Farm Home" Cheri Galvin, Reg. Development Director of the Trillium Family Services explains the history of the Children's Farm Home located between Albany and Corvallis, on Hwy. 20 in Benton County.

"Latest Developments in Researching Immigration and Naturalization Records" John Thomas of Newport, Oregon shares a PowerPoint presentation on what is new when researching your immigrant ancestors. |

"The Genealogy of a Cemetery"
Jeannine Cook of the Linn and Lebanon Genealogical Societies and Historian of the Miller/Simison-Hale/Allphen Cemetery Association shares information about researching this Millersburg, Oregon Cemetery. She has spent four years collecting information, census, many writings and pictures of the families buried in this cemetery. |

"Strategies for Adoption Research & Finding Other Missing Persons" Connie Lenzen, CG, from the Genealogical Forum of Oregon presents how the search to reunite birth parents and birth children utilizes all genealogical research strategies. These same strategies are used to find the relative who has come up missing. Those relatives usually do not want to be found, and they seem to have set up roadblocks to keep us away. |

"Muddy Roads, Sick Babies & Poor Accommodations-Vermont to Illinois - and on to Oregon and California" Joan A. Hunter, M.L.S., Certified Genealogist presents a case study of
one family's journey from Vermont to Illinois in 1834, followed by
their subsequent migrations to California and Oregon. Analyzing this case
study will assist researchers to better analyze and reconstruct their
own ancestors' migrations.

Party time!!
Participants are asked to bring a favorite finger food for our annual
pot luck lunch. We will share genealogy research stories from 2008.
Did your research hit a brick wall? Did you scale that wall and
come up with a link to your family? We want to hear about it--and any
other genealogy experience you wish to share.
