Holley Mills
Back to Table of Contents
In 1900 George Lowry and Timothy Riggs built the Holley Mill at the town of Holley above Crawfordsville. The location was chosen to supply gold miners in the Blue River Mining District farther up the Calapooia River. A long flume was required to get water to the mill's turbine. This mill was plagued with mechanical difficulties and a slumping market. It closed and is better known as a dance hall.
